As the story goes:

The procession left the church at a pace that could only be described as respectful, with a pianist, a bass player, and a drummer holding brushes like they were afraid to wake someone.

The march had been the same slow plod for about 180 years, and everyone in the street had resigned themselves to it, until the drummer switched to sticks and the pianist reached for a flat 13th he had been saving for a special occasion.

By the second block the mourners were swaying a little, by the third a woman in the back was tapping her umbrella on the two and the four, and nobody in the family could say exactly when the whole thing started to swing.

Nobody knows if the deceased approved, but the funeral home reports it was the best-attended service on record, and three guests asked if the trio was free on Saturday.
