As the story goes:

Elise was sitting on a towel at the beach, picking out the same gentle little tune she had been playing for two hundred years, because that is what Elise does on a Tuesday.

Then two low notes started up from somewhere under the water, slow and patient, and every time they repeated they sounded a little closer to the shore.

She played faster, and the shark kept time in the left hand, and by the second page she was playing at a tempo no student of Beethoven has ever survived with something that size accompanying them.

Nobody knows how the piece ends, but the lifeguard says it stops in the middle of a phrase, and no one has asked for an encore.
